Durra Kids is built for children, so we keep what we collect small and give parents control of it.

Made for children, owned by parents
Durra Kids is a Quran and Arabic practice app for children. Children can practise without any account at all.
If a family wants progress saved across devices, a parent creates the account with their own email address. Sign-in uses a one-time code sent to that email, so there is no password. Children never enter an email address, and nothing in the app asks a child for contact details.
What a child's practice involves
Child profiles live on the device. A profile is a first name or nickname that the parent types, so several children can share one phone or tablet and keep their own stars.
When a child recites an ayah, the recording is sent to our own servers to check which words were recited, so the app can show which words matched. The recording is processed and then discarded: we do not save it, we do not build voice profiles, and we do not share it with anyone. A copy stays on the device only so the child can play back their own attempt.
What we store if a parent signs in
The parent's email address and, if given, their name.
For each child profile that practises while signed in: the profile's first name or nickname, an internal profile id, the best stars earned on each ayah, and the days practice happened, so streaks and weekly progress work on every device.
If you buy Premium: the plan, the amount and the payment status. Payments are handled by our payment provider, Flutterwave, and we never see or store card details.
Family and class sharing
A parent can link a child to a family hub, or to a class using a code from the child's teacher. Linked family members and the teacher can then see that child's first name, stars, the surahs practised and the days practice happened. They cannot hear recordings, and there is no chat, messaging or public profile anywhere in Durra Kids.
No ads, no third-party analytics
Durra Kids shows no advertising and contains no third-party analytics or advertising SDKs. We never sell or rent personal information, and we do not track children across other apps or websites.
This website, kids.trydurra.com, uses Specvista Analytics, our own first-party analytics service, to count page visits, with the browser type, language and screen size. It does not record what is typed or shown on the page. When a parent signs in, our server records the sign-in in the same service with the account's number only, no email, name or child information. The iPhone and iPad app contains no analytics of any kind. When an account is deleted, its records there are erased too. This is used only to run and improve Durra Kids.
Services that help us run the app
Sign-in codes and a weekly progress summary are emailed to the parent through our email provider, Resend. The "Listen" button and word-by-word playback stream established qari recitations from public Quran audio libraries (Islamic Network and Quran.com), which receive the device's network request but no account or child information. Our emails load their fonts from Google Fonts when opened, which receives the mail app's network request but nothing about the account.
Reviewing and deleting your child's information
A parent can see each child's progress in the Account tab of the app, and everything saved to the account at kids.trydurra.com/account. To receive a copy of everything we hold, email us from the account's address.
A parent can delete the account at any time from the Account tab (Delete account). This permanently removes the account, every child's saved stars and practice days, family and class links, and any family or class the parent created. To remove a child from one class without deleting the account, or to ask us to delete anything else, email us and we will remove it.
Removing the app or clearing its data deletes the child profiles and progress kept on the device.
COPPA and children's privacy
We follow the US Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and comparable children's privacy rules. We collect only what is needed for practice to work, we do not ask children for personal contact information, we do not use children's information for advertising, and a child's voice is used only to check the recitation and is not kept.
Accounts are created and controlled by a parent. If you believe a child has given us personal information without a parent's involvement, contact us and we will delete it.
